NEW YORK—Waves of celebration broke over Radio City Music Hall last night for the Chinese New Year. That's where Divine Performing Arts showcased the Chinese New Year Splendor, a gala of classical Chinese dance, music, singing, and storytelling that will finish its 11-night engagement on Saturday night.
Carlos Bellido and Andrea Billacis of Queens loved the program. They had compliments and new revelations about culture and values after the show.
"It's a very wonderful performance," Carlos said. "I've never seen Chinese dance like this before. I thought in the past I have had experience with Korean and Japanese [dance], and it's really very wonderful. I like the Chinese Epoch Times too. Where I'm from, Peru, we have a lot of Chinese people."
It was difficult for them to choose a favorite number in the show.
About the cultural aspects, Carlos said "I thought many good things, like the history about the Chinese classical dance is amazing, you know. Before I didn't know so much about that, but it was amazing, I really like the way it was done."
When asked if they saw other Asian-culture performances, they said that they had not.
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, February 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: http://www.divineperformingarts.org . The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Splendor.
