NEW YORK -The beauty of the Chinese New Year Splendor has been prompting enthusiastic viewers to recommend the show as a must-see to their friends.
That was how Sailia came to learn about the Splendor and decided to come with her daughter Meghan to tonight's show.
Sailia is a hairdresser from Flushing, New York. "Actually, one of my coworkers, she came out on Sunday, and she said 'You have to see this show. It's so beautiful,'" she told this reporter.
Sailia is originally from Belize. She explained that she is half Chinese and half Mexican. "My dad is from Canton, China. My mom is Mexican. I was born in Belize," she said.
After seeing the first half of the show, Sailia agreed with her coworker, "It's beautiful!"
"I like the story about the two fellows. It's beautiful; it's a nice story," she said, referring to one of segments that told a story about a simple and sincere act of reverence by a wayward youth.
Sialia also "loved the drums" and added, "It's the New Year, my year -the Year of the Rat."
"I can't wait for the second half," she added.
Salia brought her 27-year-old daughter Meghan to the show. Also from Flushing, New York, Megan works in the contracts department of a publishing company.
"I like it. It's very pretty. The costumes are beautiful," said Megan.
Did she have a favorite performance?
She liked the dance of the "Nymphs of the Sea." "My favorite part was the sea -it's very beautiful," she said.
"It's beautiful," her mother repeated.
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, February 9.
