NEW YORK -Student Victoria Ortega says she really enjoyed the Chinese New Year Splendor on Thursday night.

"I loved it. I've been pushing on my campus -we're from Lehman [Lehman College, City University of New York] -to have this, and they finally let us go, so I'm so thankful. Thank you so much, you guys are awesome. I loved it, totally," she said.

Miss Ortega said the Falun Gong piece resonated with her.

"That's a very sensitive subject for me right now. I was doing a lot of research a couple of years ago, for the people from Canada actually, Canada's Chinatown. They were coming in from China. I guess being excommunicated over there, and then they can come here to the States and bring awareness.

"So for that one I was kind of teary-eyed, definitely," she said.

Her friend Anella Benjamin said the whole show was "gorgeous."

"I loved it. The whole thing, I just loved it," she said.

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org .
